Dr. Debbra Toria Anak Nipo

Dr. Debbra Toria Anak Nipo is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Business, Economics and Accountancy, and is currently a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Development and Policy (CEDP), UMS. Her academic and professional expertise spans economics, business management, quantitative analysis, digital innovation and sustainability, human development and rural entrepreneurship. She has previously undertaken numerous leadership roles and responsibilities, including the Deputy Director of the UMS EcoCampus Management Centre, Academic Quality Assurance Coordinator, and in Assurance of Learning and postgraduate academic administration. She has also contributed to programme development and accreditation initiatives, including AACSB and ABEST21-related activities, and has served as an internal and external examiner for postgraduate programmes. Her academic service extends beyond the university through appointments as a national programme evaluation expert, reviewer and assessor for academic and innovation activities, and member of the Education Sub-Committee of the Sabah Women's Advisory Council for the 2025–2026 term. Dr. Debbra has established a substantial research, publication, postgraduate supervision and innovation portfolio. She has led and contributed to numerous completed and ongoing research projects from the university, ministry and other funding sources. Her research has examined diverse contemporary issues, including digital innovation and rural entrepreneurship in Sabah, technology and human development, housing affordability, microfinance, digital connectivity, food security and sustainable development. She has a growing portfolio of scholarly contributions, including publications in high-indexed journals, international book chapters, edited academic publications and educational resources. Her research and innovation activities have also received recognition through various awards at both national and international levels.
