Summary

Prof. P.Geol. Ts. Gs. Dr. Rodeano Roslee, F.I.G.M., is a Professor in the field of Engineering Geology and Geological Disasters at the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS). His career began at the Department of Minerals and Geosciences Malaysia (JMG), and he has served at UMS since 2004. Throughout his career, he has held several important positions that reflect his leadership experience as well as strong academic and research management capabilities. He has served as the Head of the Geology Program at FST, Deputy Director and Director of the Natural Disaster Research Centre (NDRC), and Deputy Dean (Research and Innovation) at FST. He currently serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), UMS.

At the professional level, he is actively involved in 15 national and international professional bodies. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of the Geological Behaviour Journal (GBR) and the Malaysian Journal of Geosciences (MJG). He is frequently invited to serve as a keynote speaker or invited presenter at national or international conferences, as well as a reviewer for several leading journals. His roles as a geohazard and engineering geology expert, Independent Checker, Subject Matter Expert (SME) committee for the Sabah Blue Economy, member of the strategic policy and legislative for the Sabah Mineral Development, project head of the consultancy for the development of the Sabah Minerals Development Blueprint (2026–2030), member of the Geological Board of Malaysia (BoG), and chairman of the Institute of Geology of Malaysia (IGM) (Sabah Chapter ) make him a valuable asset beyond his role as an academician serving the community, industry, state and nation. His research focuses on Natural Disaster Risk Management and Mitigation, Engineering Geology, and Sustainable Mining Practices (Environment, Social & Governance, ESG), ensuring the quality, transparency, and reliability of research results used by the government and strategic industries of the country.

To date, Prof. Dr. Rodeano has published more than 320 technical papers in local and international journals and proceedings, as well as five books. He has led 25 research grants and completed over 200 consultancy projects and supervised more than 140 undergraduate students, 13 master's students, and 5 PhD students.

Prof. Ts. Dr. Rodeano Bin Roslee holds Bencana Geologi (Ph.D) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia , among other qualifications, and has established themselves as a respected expert in their field.
