Dr. Annita Yong Seok Kian is a lecturer at the Borneo Marine Research Institute, Universiti Malaysia Sabah. She received her Ph.D. in Aquaculture from Kindai University, Japan, in 2008. She teaches in the undergraduate aquaculture program and supervises postgraduate students in areas related to aquaculture nutrition and sustainable production systems. She has successfully bred mud crabs in a hatchery setting and completed the full production cycle for this species. Several of her research outputs have been registered as trade secrets at UMS, and one has been filed for patent protection. She maintains active collaborations with local and international researchers through research contracts to advance sustainable aquaculture practices. She also engages closely with the aquaculture industry through research partnerships and technology transfer. Beyond academia and industry, she contributes to the local aquaculture community through Rakan Akuakultur initiative, which promotes sustainable and responsible aquaculture. She has led numerous knowledge transfer and community engagement programs, particularly benefiting coastal communities.

Professor Madya Dr. Annita Yong Seok Kian holds Ph.D Agricultural Science from Universiti-Universiti Di Jepun , among other qualifications, and has established themselves as a respected expert in their field.
