Dr. Zuliana Binti Bacho

Exercise Physiologist and Sports Science researcher specialising in exercise physiology, exercise rehabilitation, metabolic health, and corrective exercise. Dr. Zuliana obtained her Doctor of Philosophy in Education (Sports Science) from Universiti Malaysia Sabah in 2026. She has contributed to 29 scholarly publications and participated in 11 research projects with cumulative funding exceeding RM210,000. Her research focuses on exercise interventions for obesity management, stroke rehabilitation, sports injuries, human performance, and cardiometabolic health. Dr. Zuliana currently serves as a lecturer at Universiti Malaysia Sabah and is actively involved in postgraduate supervision, co-supervising PhD and Master’s candidates in sports science research. She collaborates with industry and healthcare partners in translational research involving metabolic diagnostics, exercise prescription, community-based health interventions, and functional beverage research. Her industry collaborations include evaluating the efficacy of nutritional formulations on physiological responses, exercise performance, and metabolic outcomes. Her expertise encompasses laboratory and field-based assessments, including VO2max testing, FatMax analysis, isokinetic dynamometry for muscle performance and injury risk assessment, body composition evaluation, and functional movement screening. Through these approaches, she aims to translate exercise science into evidence-based strategies that enhance health, performance, and rehabilitation outcomes.
