I investigate provenance, depositional environments, and carbon sequestration potential of Sabah’s sedimentary formations through integrated geochemical and mineralogical analyses. My work focuses on decoding geochemical signals of key formations including Tanjong, Garinono, Labang, and Kulapis as well as Gomantong Limestone, to reconstruct past environments and link them to modern carbon storage processes. By combining elemental geochemistry, organic proxies, and soil profiling, I aim to understand how ancient systems inform current blue carbon dynamics, soil carbon capacity, and land suitability, contributing to climate change mitigation and sustainable georesource management.
