Dr. Azahar Bin Che Latiff

Dr. Azahar Che Latiff holds a Bachelor of Counseling from the University of Malaya (B.Counselling); a Master of Science in Counseling from the University of North Malaysia (MSc.Counselling) and a Doctorate in Counseling Education. He has worked as a Senior Psychology Officer (Counselling) in several hospitals in the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) from 1/12/2005 to 31/1/2012. He then continued his service with the University of Malaysia Sabah (UMS) from 1/2/2012 as a University Lecturer in the Counseling Psychology Program (UH6311003), Faculty of Psychology and Social Work (FPKS), University of Malaysia Sabah (UMS). Currently assigned as the Coordinator of the Counseling Psychology Undergraduate Program (UMSFlec) from 1/9/2024 to 31/8/2026. In addition, he held the position of Staff Fellow of Non-Resident Residential College from 1/1/2014 to 31/12/2015 and Staff Fellow of Seri Angkasa Residential College from 1/1/2016 to 31/12/2016. Having professional qualifications as a Registered Counsellor (KB01414), Practice Certificate (PA01733) and Special Certificate for Supervision (Level 3), which are still active, allows him to provide psychological counselling services with a focus on mental health (emotional intelligence), family, marriage and recovery groups. Research grants also focus on aspects of mental health and psychological well-being.
