Dr. Rio Erismen Armen obtained his PhD in Islamic Banking and Finance from the International Islamic University Malaysia (2021), after completing his undergraduate studies in Shari?ah and Law at Al-Azhar University, Cairo, and his master’s degree in Islamic Law at the ALECSO Institute of Arab Research and Studies, Cairo.
He has accumulated over ten years of academic experience as a lecturer at the Islamic University College of Usuluddin Al-Hikmah (Jakarta) and Institut Agama Islam SEBI (Depok), where he taught various courses in Islamic jurisprudence (mu?amalah), contemporary financial transactions, Islamic capital markets, and research methodology. From 2019 to 2025, he served as Head of the Department of Islamic Economic Law at Institut Agama Islam SEBI (Depok-Indonesia), overseeing curriculum development, academic research, and community engagement.
Since May 2025, he has been appointed as Senior Lecturer at the Labuan Faculty of International Finance, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, where his academic work continues to focus on the intersection of Islamic jurisprudence and contemporary finance.
