Dr. Eugene Soo is a senior lecturer in the Civil Engineering Programme at the Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS). Before his current role, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman. He earned his Ph.D. in Water Resources Engineering from the University of Malaya, focusing on the use of satellite rainfall estimations to study climate events in Malaysia. His research specializes in remote sensing, hydrology, geospatial analysis, and machine learning, with a particular emphasis on assessing and improving satellite rainfall data and integrating Earth observation datasets for climate studies.
During his Ph.D. candidature and postdoctoral appointment, Dr. Eugene assisted in the supervision of numerous undergraduate and postgraduate students, guiding them in research areas related to hydrology, climate analysis, and geospatial applications. He has published extensively in high-impact journals and international conferences, contributing to advancements in satellite-based climate monitoring and hydrological modeling. His passion for research and innovation drives his continuous efforts in developing advanced methodologies for climate and water resource studies, bridging the gap between geospatial technology and environmental sustainability.
Dr. Eugene Soo Zhen Xiang holds Doktor Falsafah (Ph.D) from Universiti Malaya , among other qualifications, and has established themselves as a respected expert in their field.
