Dr. Wee Ching Ching

Dr. Wee Ching Ching obtained her PhD from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 2023. She is a bioinformatician specializing in genomics, transcriptomics, and biological network analysis, with extensive experience in processing, integrating, and interpreting large-scale omics datasets. Her expertise includes genome and organelle genome assembly, transcriptome analysis, functional annotation, gene expression profiling, and co-expression network analysis. She currently teaches the Bioinformatics in Molecular Biology course in the Master of Science (Molecular Biology) programme. She is also actively involved in conducting bioinformatics workshops and training programs for students and researchers. Her current research focuses on applying bioinformatics, molecular genetics, and genetic engineering to improve tropical fruit crops, particularly for traits related to fruit quality, yield, and disease resistance. While her present work is centered on plant systems, her expertise in genomics, transcriptomics, and computational biology is broadly applicable across diverse organisms, enabling her to contribute to comparative genomics and multi-omics studies in both plant and non-plant species.
