Summary

I am a senior lecturer of the Civil Engineering Programme at the Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Malaysia. I joined the UMS as a tutor in September 2008 after I completed my BEng in Civil & Structural Engineering (1st class honours) from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom the same year, under the Sabah State Government Scholarship. During my Bachelor studies, I received numerous student awards, including the Yorkshire Branch of the Institution of Structural Engineers Prize, the Yorkshire Branch Student Prize, the Lunoe Trust Bursary, and the Dean’s List for Academic Excellence. I was also the recipient of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) Yorkshire Student Prize, which is awarded to the top graduates with 1st class honours degrees. In 2015, I completed my PhD at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Malaysia, under Skim Latihan Akademik Bumiputra (SLAB).

I was appointed as a senior lecturer in 2016 and held numerous administrative positions, such as Head of Civil Engineering Programme, Industrial Training Coordinator, and Entrepreneurship Coordinator. In 2024, I received the Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (Excellence Service Award) and a certificate of achievement for the Penyelaras Latihan Industri Terbaik (Best Industrial Training Coordinator).

I have always been passionate about teaching. I have taught many courses at all levels, from structural mechanics to math and design. In 2020, I received a certificate of appreciation in teaching and learning from the Faculty of Engineering, UMS, for Strength of Materials, Applied Mechanics, and Finite Element Method.

I have secured numerous highly competitive research grants from national funding bodies (two-time FRGS grant and one-time SDG grant recipient). I have also supervised more than 40 undergraduates and seven postgraduates (1 PhD and 6 Master’s) in the structures and materials field. In 2023, I received a certificate of achievement for Pascasiswazah Penyeliaan Tamat Tertinggi (Highest Completion Postgraduation Supervision) and Penyeliaan Pascasiswazah Graduate-on-Time (GOT) Tertinggi (Highest Graduate-on-Time Postgraduate Supervision).

I currently serve as the Director of Nanomaterials Research Centre (Pusat Penyelidikan Bahan Nano).

Profesor Madya Ts. Dr. Ahmad Nurfaidhi Rizalman holds Doktor Falsafah (Ph.D) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Skudai , among other qualifications, and has established themselves as a respected expert in their field.
