Passionate and dedicated senior lecturer in the Centre for the Promotion of Knowledge and Language Learning (Pusat Penataran Ilmu dan Bahasa, PPIB), Universiti Malaysia Sabah where he has been a Faculty/Centre member since 2009. He held numbers of managerial post such Deputy Dean (Research and Community Services), Deputy Dean (Postgraduate and International Relations), Coordinator (PPIB UMSKAL), and Coordinator (PLUMS) in PPIB. He completed his Ph.D. at the Australian National University, Canberra Australia, as well as obtained his Master of Science and Bachelor of Science from the Universiti Putra Malaysia, Selangor, Malaysia. His research interests lie in the area of Sabah and Malaysia politics, human development and identity politics ranging from theory to the realities of the areas. He has collaborated actively with researchers in several other disciplines of social sciences and humanities. He supervised Ph.D./Master theses with more than 10 years of experience teaching courses on undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Edited and co-authored books. Published over 30 articles in peer-reviewed journals as well as book on Sabah politics. He has served on numbers of international/national/university conference and workshop program committees. He has actively involved in community services and currently serves as the Chairman of Persatuan Penyelidik dan Khidmat Sosial Malaysia (AMRASS) Cawangan Sabah, and advisor of several association such as MOMOGUNSIA and Persatuan Rungus Bersatu Sabah (PRBS). Apart from that, he is also an active speaker/commenter for organization such as Polis DiRaja Malaysia, Kementerian di Jabatan Perdana Menteri (Bahagian Hal Ehwal Sabah dan Sarawak), ASTRO, CNA, TVS, TV3, Bernama, MalaysiaKini, the News Straits Times, Berita Harian and Utusan.
Professor Madya Dr. Romzi Bin Ationg holds Doktor Falsafah from Australian National University , among other qualifications, and has established themselves as a respected expert in their field.
