Dr. Amer Azlan Abdul Jamal is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Business, Economics, and Accountancy at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS). He holds a PhD in Social Policy, Social Work, and Criminology from the University of Birmingham, UK, where his doctoral research focused on improving financial behaviors among young adults with low self-control. His academic and research interests center on consumer finance and behavior, corporate finance, financial literacy, and financial education, with a particular focus on enhancing financial literacy through behavioral interventions.

Amer is deeply committed to teaching and shaping the next generation of finance professionals. He lectures on courses such as Financial Management, Personal Finance, and Behavioral Finance at the undergraduate level, and Managerial Accounting and Finance at the postgraduate level. Additionally, he teaches Interaksi Institusi dan Masyarakat, one of co-curriculum subject offered in UMS which aimed at developing students' soft skills and fostering engagement in community service. His passion for mentorship extends to supervising both Master's and PhD students, guiding them in their academic and research pursuits.

Beyond his teaching and research contributions, Amer has held significant administrative roles at UMS. He served as the Head of the Financial Management and Banking Program, Advisor to the Student Club & Activities, and Coordinator for Practical Training & Academic Writing for the HE06 Program, each of which contributed to enriching the academic experience and student development at UMS. He is also a certified HRD Corp TTT Trainer, enhancing his ability to contribute to the professional growth of colleagues and students.

Currently, Amer holds the position of Deputy Director (Academic Excellence) at the Centre for Academic and Excellence Development at UMS. In this capacity, he is dedicated to empowering teaching and learning initiatives and sustainable learning environment that supports academic excellence at the university. Amer is also an active member of the Social Policy Association (UK).
