KHAMISAH BINTI AWANG LUKMAN graduated as a medical doctor from the University of Malaya in 1999 and trained in public health, specialising in occupational health at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. She is presently a Professor in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and the Director of the Centre for Occupational Safety and Health, Universiti Malaysia Sabah.
Dr. Khamisah’s career began as a House Officer in Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Then she served as Medical Officer in Duchess of Kent Hospital, Sandakan, Sabah, and later as Senior Medical and Health Officer in Putatan Health Clinic, Putatan, Sabah. After completing her post-graduate study, she was assigned as the Senior Principal Assistant Director and Head for AIDS/STD Disease Control Unit, Public Health Division, Sabah State Health Department.
She began her career as an academician in June 2016 by joining the Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS). She was appointed as Director of Centre for Occupational Safety and Health, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, in 2018. She is a competent person as Occupational Health Doctor (DOSH), Certified Medical Impairment Assessor (NIOSH), and a member of Academy Medicine Malaysia. Her specialty is Occupational Health and currently provides OH services, including health and medical surveillance, workplace inspection and monitoring, occupational health screening and health monitoring, conduct investigation and observation related to OSH complaints and reports, OSH Management System, and is also actively involved in training, teaching, research and awareness program pertaining to OSH.
