Ts. Dr. Mohd Nazri Abdul Rahman has excelled across multiple domains. He is a Registered Medical Assistant (No. 5343) with the Board of Medical Assistants, Malaysia, a Registered Professional Technologist in Food Technology (No. PT22100057) with the Malaysian Board of Technologists (MBOT), and a Registered Nutritionist [MAHPC(NUTR)00476] with the Malaysian Allied Health Professions Council (MAHPC). Since 2010, he has lectured at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) in the Faculty of Food Science and Nutrition.
Dr. Nazri's journey began with a Diploma in Medical Assistant from the College of Medical Assistants, Ulu Kinta, where he received the Best Student Award in 1998. He specialized with a Post-Basic Certificate in Emergency in 2002. He then worked at hospitals including HTAA, Hospital Tanah Merah, and Hospital Queen Elizabeth 1. In 2004, he shifted focus to academia, earning a BSc in Food Science and Nutrition at UMS. He joined UMS as a tutor in 2009 while pursuing an MSc in Food Science at UKM, completed in 2010. In 2015, he started his PhD in Nutritional Science (Biochemistry) at UPM.
Dr. Nazri is active in professional organizations such as the Nutrition Society of Malaysia, the National Diabetes Institute, and the American Society for Nutrition. His research covers Food Quality and Safety, Halal Food, Product Development, and Nutritional Biochemistry, focusing on obesity and diabetes. He has secured numerous research grants for projects like Halal Authentication, Nutrition Profiling of UMS Athletes, and the effects of Gac carotenoid-rich extracts on adipogenesis.
Currently, Dr. Nazri serves on the Technology and Technical Accreditation Council (TTAC) Accreditation Panel for MBOT (2024–2026) and the Professional Assessment Panel (2024–2025). His contributions to research and academia underscore his commitment to advancing food technology and nutritional biochemistry.
