Summary

Prof. Ts. Dr. Chong Khim Phin is a distinguished researcher at Fakulti Sains dan Teknologi, University Malaysia Sabah. Their research focuses on My research group works on, pathogenic and beneficial plant microbes interactions. The pathogenic and beneficial microbes are mainly bacterial and fungi. We undertake multidisciplinary research using genetics, molecular biology and metabolomics approaches for new discoveries. From a better understanding of the interactions, we shall be able to design suitable treatments and manage plant health and diseases more effectively. Some of our current work and interest are on oil palm basal stem rot disease, banana blood disease, jackfruit bronzing disease, rice blast disease, biocontrol agents from mycorrhizae, Trichoderma spp, actinomycetes and lactic acid bacteria, biochar, biofertilizer and organic fertilizer from oil palm wastes .

As a member of Fakulti Sains dan Teknologi, they contribute significantly to the academic and research community at UMS through their expertise and dedication to advancing knowledge in their field.

Prof. Ts. Dr. Chong Khim Phin holds PhD (Plant Biotechnology) from Universiti Luar Negeri , among other qualifications, and has established themselves as a respected expert in their field.
