Professor Madya Dr. Mailin Binti Misson

Mailin is a lecturer at the Biotechnology Research Institute, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), with expertise in bioprocessing and industrial biotechnology. Her research focuses on biomass valorisation into valuable products such as renewable energy, biofertilizers, aquaculture feed, and applications in wastewater treatment. She obtained her B.Sc. in Industrial Biology and M.Sc. in Bioprocess Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), and earned her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Adelaide, Australia. She has led and collaborated in numerous research projects with academic researchers, industry partners, and local communities. She is also an active member of the Asian Federation of Biotechnology (AFOB) – Malaysian Chapter, a registered Professional Technologist with the Malaysian Board of Technologists (MBOT), a member of the Young Scientists Network–Academy of Sciences Malaysia (YSN-ASM), and currently serves as the Co-Chairperson of the ASM Sabah Chapter Working Group.
