Summary

Normah Awang Besar @ Raffie is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Tropical Forestry. She is a lecturer at the Forest Plantation and Agroforestry Programme. She received her BSc degree in Agriculture Science from Universiti Pertanian Malaysia (UPM) (1993), MSC in Land Resource Management (LARM), UPM (2000), and PhD degree in Natural Sciences (Hamburg, Germany) (2007). She has been with the Universiti Malaysia Sabah since 1999 and has served in various positions over the years. She was appointed as the Head of the Forest Plantation and Agroforestry Programme (2000-2004), as the Deputy Dean (Academic and Student Affairs) 2008-2010, as the Dean of, the School of International Tropical Forestry, UMS (2011-2014). as the Deputy Director at Research Management Centre, UMS (2016-2018) and was appointed as the Director of Research Management Centre, UMS (2018-2020) and she was appointed as the Dean, Faculty of Tropical Forestry (2021- present). She was vice president of the Malaysia Soil Science Society (MSSS) for the Sabah region (2008-2014). Her main subjects are soil science, agroforestry systems and practices. Her received research grants from National and international levels are in the fields of soil science, agroforestry, forestry, and environment. She is active in research and consulting in the forest carbon research group for the soil carbon area.

Professor Dr. Normah Awang Besar @ Raffie holds Doctorate of natural Science(DR.RER.NAT.) from Hamburg University, Germany , among other qualifications, and has established themselves as a respected expert in their field.
