Dr. Stephanie Chok is a distinguished sports scientist and lecturer at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), where she specialises in high-performance sports and exercise science. A former national triathlete with more than two decades of experience, Dr. Chok brings a rare blend of academic expertise and elite athletic background to her teaching and research.

She holds a PhD in Medical Science and a Master of Science Coaching. She has earned numerous international certifications, including those from the International Olympic Council (IOC), the American Council on Exercise (ACE), and the International Triathlon Union (ITU). Her career has included roles as a national athlete, high-performance sport consultant, and certified judge for CrossFit competitions.

In 2007, Dr. Chok made history as the first Southeast Asian to be awarded the prestigious International Olympic Committee (IOC) scholarship to participate in the International Coaching Enrichment Certificate Program (ICECP). This achievement highlights her exceptional contributions to sports science and coaching, placing her among a global network of elite sports professionals and Olympic leaders trained through the program.
Dr. Chok’s research is widely published in high-indexed journals, and she is best known for her work in Postactivation Potentiation (PAP) and strength training. She has received multiple research projects grants and frequently speaks at regional conferences on athlete performance. At UMS, she serves as the Postgraduate Research Coordinator for Sports Science.

Beyond academia, she has represented Malaysia in international competitions such as the SEA Games, World Xterra Triathlon, and the World Women’s Floorball Championship. Her commitment to innovation in sports is reflected in several award-winning inventions, including the PSL Reps Counter and TRF Trunk Rotation device.

Dr. Chok remains active in competitive functional fitness, achieving podium finishes across Southeast Asia. Through her mentorship, research, and continued athletic involvement, she continues to shape the next generation of sports professionals and contribute meaningfully to Malaysia’s sports science landscape.
