Dr. Hidayati is a Senior Lecturer at Universiti Malaysia Sabah, where she obtained her PhD, and her research focuses on concrete technology and green construction materials. She has established strong and sustained collaborations with industry partners, resulting in funded research grants, research agreements, technical consultancy, and joint development projects in sustainable construction materials. Her work includes the development of interlocking compressed earth bricks (ICEB), which have been successfully applied in low-cost community housing projects in Tawau and Sepanggar, as well as ongoing research on lightweight concrete poles, the utilization of De-Oiled Bleaching Earth (DOBE) in concrete and brick production, and limestone aggregate bricks. Her research leadership has been recognised through multiple national and international innovation awards, including gold medals, and the successful filing of a utility innovation patent, with additional patent applications planned based on ongoing industry-linked research. She has secured competitive national research funding under the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS), obtained industry-funded research grants and formal research agreements, and has successfully supervised seven PhD and two Master’s graduates, with ongoing supervision of two PhD and two Master’s candidates. In service to the university, she serves as Vice Leader of the Advanced Construction Technology Recognised Research Laboratory and as Chairman of ICECON 2026, contributing actively to the advancement of UMS’s research ecosystem and academic standing.
