Dr. Kamlisa Uni Kamlun is a Senior Lecturer (DS13) at the Faculty of Tropical Forestry, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), with over 19 years of experience in teaching, research, and academic leadership. Her field of expertise covers Forestry Science, GIS & Remote Sensing, Landscape Ecology, and Ecosystem Services. Since joining UMS in 2006, Dr. Kamlisa has served in various academic and administrative capacities, including as Deputy Dean (Academic and International Affairs) and Postgraduate Coordinator. Her research focuses on tropical forest monitoring, ecosystem services assessment, and peatland fire risk mapping using geospatial and remote sensing approaches. She has led and contributed to multiple national and international research and consultancy projects, including the Sustainable Management of Peatland Ecosystems in Malaysia (SMPEM) and collaborations with GIZ (Germany) and the GEF Small Grants Programme (ECR). Her outstanding academic contributions have been recognized with a Summa Cum Laude Ph.D. from Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, Germany, and numerous innovation and research awards at national and international levels. Her professional philosophy is grounded in a commitment to advancing sustainable tropical forest management through education, scientific research, and inter-agency collaboration.
