My research interests fall broadly into three areas: community forestry, forest governance, and social impact assessment. My recent research has focused on community forestry management in Sabah, as well as peat fire mitigation and governance in Pahang and Sarawak. I have led and participated as a team member in numerous consultancy projects related to community engagement in social forestry in Sabah, as well as peat fire mitigation and governance. I was the lead author and lead consultant for Penglibatan Komuniti dalam Perhutanan Sosial di Sabah (KIPMAPS), published by the Sabah Forestry Department (SFD) and WWF-Malaysia (Sabah Office). I also served as the lead author of Chapter 5, Community and Forest, in a book published by ICRAF-CIFOR. In addition, I have experience conducting field research in the Krabi Community Forest, Thailand, and in several locations across Sabah, including the Gana Resettlement and Integrated Development (GRID) Project in Kota Marudu and the Joint Forest Management programme in the Kelawat Forest Reserve.
