Dr. Muhammed Buhary Muhammed Thabith is a Senior Lecturer in Islamic Finance at the Labuan Faculty of International Finance, Universiti Malaysia Sabah. He specializes in Islamic finance, waqf governance, Islamic jurisprudence, sustainable development, and Shari’ah-compliant financial management.
He obtained his academic qualifications in the fields of Islamic law and Islamic finance, with advanced research focusing on waqf governance, Islamic financial instruments, and contemporary Shari’ah issues. He previously served as a Postdoctoral Fellow and part-time lecturer at International Islamic University Malaysia, where he further strengthened his academic and research expertise.
Dr. Thabith is actively engaged in academic research, conference presentations, and scholarly publications, particularly in the areas of Islamic Finance, waqf legal frameworks, Islamic social finance, and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He has participated in various international research collaborations and academic initiatives related to Islamic finance and sustainable waqf development.
In addition, he is a certified member of the Association of Shariah Advisors in Islamic Finance Malaysia and continues to contribute to the advancement of Islamic finance education, research, and industry development both locally and internationally.
Dr. Muhammed Buhary Muhammed Thabith holds Doktor Falsafah (Ph.D) from Lain-lain and has established themselves as a respected expert in their field.
