Professor Dr. Abdullah Bin Bade

Professor Dr. Abdullah Bade is a distinguished scholar in visual computing whose academic career has been shaped by sustained contributions to computer graphics, image processing, computer vision, and computational photography. He began his academic journey at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science in 2000, followed by a Master of Science in Computer Science with a specialization in Computer Graphics in 2003. Driven by a strong interest in applied and industrial oriented research, he completed his PhD in Industrial Computing at the National University of Malaysia (UKM) in 2008, establishing a solid foundation for his future research and academic leadership.
Dr. Abdullah has successfully translated his academic training into impactful teaching and research. From 2000 to 2010, he served as a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Computing, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, where he played an active role in educating and mentoring students in foundational and advanced computing topics. He is currently a Professor in Computer Graphics, Image Processing, Computer Vision and Visual Computing at the Faculty of Science and Natural Resources, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, where he continues to advance scholarship and innovation in visual computing.
His research interests encompass a broad spectrum of topics, including computer graphics systems, image processing, computer vision, and computational photography. Dr. Abdullah has published extensively in reputable journals, conference proceedings, books, and technical reports, reflecting both the depth and consistency of his scholarly contributions. His work is driven by a commitment to advancing knowledge while addressing real world challenges through visual computing technologies.
Beyond his research output, Dr. Abdullah is deeply committed to academic mentorship. He is widely regarded as a dedicated and supportive supervisor who fosters intellectual growth and independent thinking. To date, he has successfully supervised 11 PhD graduates out of 15 candidates and all 18 of his Master’s students. In addition, he has guided more than 200 undergraduate Final Year Project students at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and Universiti Malaysia Sabah. Through his teaching, supervision, and research leadership, Professor Dr. Abdullah Bade has made a lasting contribution to the development of visual computing and academic excellence in Malaysia.
