Professor Madya Dr. Siti Jahara Binti Matlan

Dr. Siti Jahara Binti Matlan is a Senior Lecturer in Civil Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), holding a PhD in Civil and Structural Engineering from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. She specialises in geotechnical engineering, with focus on slope stability, unsaturated soil mechanics, soil–water interaction, and sustainable soil stabilisation in tropical environments. She has published in Scopus-indexed journals (Scopus H-index: 8), reflecting consistent scholarly contribution to hydro-mechanical soil behaviour and applied geotechnical research. She has served as Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator in internally and externally funded research projects, contributing to collaborative research development and university–industry engagement. She has successfully supervised both international and local postgraduate students, including one (1) PhD and three (3) Master’s graduates, and continues to mentor ongoing postgraduate researchers, contributing steadily to research capacity building and academic development. Dr. Siti Jahara previously served as Programme Coordinator for the Master of Civil Engineering (Coursework), supporting curriculum governance and postgraduate academic administration during the programme’s achievement of full MQA accreditation. Her contributions to teaching, research, and academic service have been recognised through institutional awards, reflecting sustained commitment to scholarly and professional excellence.
