Fakulti Kejuruteraan, UMS

I was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on 05th January 1971. I am currently a senior lecturer in the Chemical Engineering programme at, the Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Malaysia. I acquired my “Master of Science” degree in Petro-Chemical Engineering from the State University of Oil & Gas, Moscow, Russia in 1996 with a distinction. I obtained Ph.D from the same university in 2001. I have diverse and yet rewarding experience in teaching, research, industry, management, and administrative fields spanning over 25 years. I have around 15 years of professional experience as a faculty member of UMS and have had various technical and managerial positions for over 9 years in various multinational industries. As a faculty member, I have published 86 articles in peer-reviewed indexed journals, attended several international conferences, and have been awarded the “Best Paper Award” in 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2023. My Scopus h- index is 13, and Google Scholar citations exceed 1384 as of January 2025, and I have been bestowed with the UMS researcher award in 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2020, and 2024. I have accumulated acknowledgment of the contributions of others, i.e. grants given by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), Malaysia in his journal articles. I have been invited as a “Keynote Speaker” and attended various global scientific gatherings as an invited speaker to share knowledge in recognition of my expertise. I received the UMS distinction staff award in 2013 and 2014. In October 2024, I received the “Excellent Service Award” UMS Distinction Staff Award. I have participated in the Inter-University Research and Innovation Competition (PEREKA) and have been awarded silver and bronze medals in 2013, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2022, and 2024. I am actively involved as a reviewer for several journals and have been appointed as the external moderator of a leading Australian university named Swinburne University of Technology, Sarawak campus. Malaysia. 13 master's degree students (research and by coursework) and more than 56 undergraduate students on final year research projects had graduated under my supervision. I have been appointed as an internal examiner for several master's and Ph. D theses at UMS and an external examiner as well. I have an in-depth grasp of accreditation principles and preparation of the self-assessment report (SAR) for the chemical engineering program in obtaining accreditation from the Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC). To keep abreast of happenings in the engineering discipline, I registered as a chartered engineer by the Engineering Council (UK) and as a corporate member of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE, UK). Apart from that, I am active as an honorary research fellow of the Energy and Materials Research Group, a registered engineer of the Board of Engineers, Malaysia, and a life fellow member of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB).
